Cyber Policies

11.10.2019г. | Sofia Tech Park, "John Atanasoff" Hall

For the first time in Bulgaria an event of similar rank, covering all aspects of digitizing and privacy, will be held. Privacy experts from Bulgaria, USA, Singapore, Ireland and other countries will be present at this event organized by the Bulgarian Data protection Commission and ILAC International Legal Advice Center. Being a host, the Bulgarian supervisory authority will participate actively and the event itself will be inaugurated by the Chairman of the Commission for Personal Data Protection in Bulgaria who is also  Deputy Chair of  the  European Data Protection Board (EDPB). Private and public sector representatives will exchange thoughts and ideas regarding the numerous issues we face every day working in an increasingly virtual world. All attendees will have the opportunity to hear from and network directly with world-class professionals. The main idea of the event is to cover all intersections between privacy and the other aspects of the digital environment, such as online copyright, AI, e-Health, cybersecurity and other related topics. The second part of the event will also feature an “open panel” which will welcome everyone who hasn’t found its exact topic and will be open to all discussions related to privacy and digitizing.

What we are going to do

The event will consist of two parts. The first part will consist of lectures and discussions following the “Critical debate” format encouraging all participants to actively participate. The working language of the first panel will be Bulgarian, and the hosts will be providing real-time translation for the foreign lecturers.

During the second part participants will have the opportunity to choose between different panels that will be held in two sessions. Each participant will be able to choose which two panels he/she wants to attend, depending on his/hers interests.

In order to achieve complete synergy between all the participants in the panels  and the moderators, the number of the participants will be limited and all participants are required to state in advance which panels they want to attend.

The working languages of the second panel will be Bulgarian and English depending upon the moderator of the panel. Due to the format of the second part, translation will not be provided.

Another reason to participate in the event

This event will kickstart the creation of a Digital Experts Community including all participants in the event as members. The idea of the community is to create lasting ties between all participants of the event, to give them a platform where to exchange ideas and to accumulate useful ideas for improving the regulation and self-regulation / status on the digital environment. The community mentors will periodically summarize and present to the wide public and the society those ideas. The community’s main goal is to make known all the good ideas which will come out at the end of this event as well as all the established good practices and help them come true. At the end of the event, three participants will be elected to become members of the Community Mentors Board.
